Stephen King Stephen King was born in Portland, Maine in 1947. As a child, King apparently witnessed one of his friends being struck and killed by a train, though he has no memory of the event. Some commentators believe that this event inspired King’s form of writing however, King himself, denies it. King began writing for fun while in his school age years. Since then he has become a best-selling author, screenwriter, columnist, actor, producer and director. His literal achievements are amazing and he’s a true credit to his genre.
